This photograph is incredible, i saw it this morning and just thought it was one of the best things i've ever seen before. It fits in perfectly with our whole "Throwback Thursday" even though i didn't actually take the picture (i would of only been 6 years old! ha). It was actually taken by a chap named Jason Hill and its of Ian "Eggy" Harrison who is widely respected for managing Worcester's outdoor/indoor skatepark for over 10 years, FWR Shop, and for being an incredible rider back in the day (and a good friend of the shop now). As you can see Eggy is sending an awesome backflip on Bath Skateparks mid-sized mini-ramp, the brilliant thing is that this ramp is still in existence today! Someone should go and recreate this today as a tribute (Danny T fancy learning some backflips?).
The photograph was taken at some point in 1995, at the BCR Bath Jam (BCR stands for Bristol Cider Riders! What a name!). I'm seriously taken back by the amount of people sat watching on the sidelines, i would imagine we would struggle to fill that space nowadays with one of are own Crucial Jams with the likes of the internet/social media and such so this must of been one hell of a big deal back then.
Hope everyone enjoy this as much as i have, i know this will probably strike a nerve with the likes of Stephen Murray/Aliano/Murray/Edgeworth/Graeme H/Craig Stevens and anyone else who been involved in the south west scene since the early day. These are people i have always looked up to, and its definitely something special for me to feature on my blog today.
Thanks and all the best to everyone.
